HomeworkX Terms of Use
The short version: HomeworkX is a free tool offered "as is". It can glitch, miss a reminder, or show a wrong date. It is not a replacement for checking Canvas and your teacher. If you forget homework, that is not on us.
By installing or using the HomeworkX Chrome extension ("HomeworkX", "the extension"), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please remove the extension. "We" and "us" mean yhile.com, the maker of HomeworkX.
1. Free, and provided "as is"
HomeworkX is free. It is provided "as is" and "as available", with no promises or warranties of any kind, whether stated or implied. That includes no promise that it will work without errors or interruptions, that it will be accurate or complete, or that it will fit any particular purpose. We do not guarantee the quality of the extension, and glitches and bugs may happen.
2. You are responsible for your homework
HomeworkX is a helper, not a guarantee. You are responsible for knowing what is due and when. Please:
- Check Canvas and your teacher for the real due dates and instructions. Canvas and your teacher are always right, not HomeworkX.
- Do not rely on HomeworkX as your only way of keeping track of schoolwork.
3. Things that can go wrong
You understand and accept that, among other things:
- Reminders can be late or missing. They depend on Chrome running, your computer being on and awake, notifications being allowed in your system, and your quiet-hours settings.
- Typed homework can be misread. The extension guesses the class, type and due date from what you type, and it can guess wrong.
- Canvas imports can be incomplete or wrong. Canvas can change how it works, items can be missing or out of date, and the import only covers about two weeks ahead. Items you remove or hide will not come back by themselves.
- Your list can be lost. Data lives only in your browser. Clearing browser data, removing the extension or a browser problem can delete it, and we cannot recover it.
- Themes can look odd. Custom themes and uploaded media can make the extension hard to read or slow.
4. Limit of our responsibility
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not responsible for any loss or harm that comes from using, or not being able to use, HomeworkX. That includes missed, late or forgotten homework, missed deadlines, lower grades, lost data, or any other problem, even if we were told it could happen. Because HomeworkX is free, you use it at your own risk.
Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have by law that cannot be limited.
5. Not connected to Canvas or Instructure
HomeworkX is made independently. It is not made, approved or supported by Instructure, Canvas, your school or your teachers. "Canvas" and "Instructure" belong to their owners. Please do not contact them for help with HomeworkX.
6. Using it fairly
- Use HomeworkX only for your own schoolwork, and only with your own Canvas account.
- Do not use it to break any law, or any rule of your school or of Canvas.
- If you add pictures, videos or fonts to a theme, make sure you have the right to use them. They stay on your computer.
7. Changes and ending
We may change, pause or stop HomeworkX, or change these terms, at any time and without notice. If the terms change, the updated version on this page applies from the date at the top. You can stop using HomeworkX at any time by removing it from Chrome.
